Steve McClure PortraitSteve is one of world's best climbers, having climbed numerous new routes at the grade of f9a, and onsighted up to f8b+.  Despite being better known for his sport climbing achievements, you might also find him wiggling in wires on a big wall in Greenland or on a local Peak crag.  Steve is well known for his modest, approachable attitude, and has the rare talent of being able to make the experience he has obtained relevant in helping climbers of all abilities improve.  Steve has also co-written a book with Adrian Berry about everything you need to know about sport climbing.

What do you enjoy about coaching on planetFear trips?
Meeting great people, seeing people absorb knowledge, seeing the joy people get when they find the flow of climbing.

Have you any personal goals for 2007 – climbing and/or non climbing?
2 projects at Malham, getting stronger, fixing my house, spending time with family

Can you describe one of your best climbing experiences?
Recently climbing the ultimate route in Kalymnos on the Petzl roc trip

What’s the single thing that has made the biggest difference to your climbing?
Passing my driving test

What’s your desert island crag and what 2 desert island discs would you take?
Malham of course and my 2 discs? Chill out-KLF and a frisbee that I could throw to my self or imaginary mate
